Duck Dynasty Time...

I'm sure you've all heard the controversy over Phil (Duck Dynasty) and his anti-gay remarks. Honestly, Duck Dynasty is all about the controversial, and up until this moment, no one cared!! I mean, if these quotes didn't raise controversy, why should this?  I go on a mini-rant here, but take a look below for a set of ridiculous statements that not only went unchallenged by the press, but were generally welcomed with laughs from viewers everywhere...and hey, why not?

Thankful

School is over! Finals are over! Siblings coming home.
Life is good.

What are you thankful for?

December 10, 2013

Live the kind of life so that nobody feels the need to lie at your funeral.

That beig sad, live every day with joy and always look to see what else you can be doing.

Teenage girl problems...blech

I met him, I liked him.
I knew it would never happen.
I ignored him.
He ignored me.

Now he's Mr. Friendly,
all hugs and happy greetings

And my over imaginative brain takes over.
Sometimes being a girl sucks.

A. E Housman

Because I liked you better
Than it suits a man to say
It irked you and I promised
  To throw the thought away

To put the world between us,
  We parted stiff and dry.
"Goodbye" and you "Forget me"
"I will, no fear", said I

If here where clover whitens,
The dead man's knoll you pass
And no tall flower to meet you
  Starts in the trefoiled grass

Halt by the headstone naming
  A heart no longer stirred
And say the one who loved you
Was one who kept his word.

What about you?

If you had the choice to trade in your parents for a different, customized set, do you think you would do it?

Personally, as much as I fight with my parents, I wouldn't trade them for anything.  I know that someday, probably within my lifetime, they'll be gone and there won't be any way to stop that from happening.  This terrifies me beyond belief.

Thor....LOKI

Did anyone else think Thor: The Dark World should have been called LOKILOKIOMGLOKI?

Another week come and gone

Thanksgiving. Full house.  Laughter. Fun. Crazy.

What five words describe your week?

Oh yes...

Writing on something I don't believe in.  This is harder than I thought it would be...

The Ideal

Marilyn Monroe, an international sex-symbol to the world for the past 60 years was a size 12.

Cary Grant was once told by a coat-check girl that he "looked nothing like Cary Grant".  He smiled at her and said "that's the thing...nobody does".

Finally, Jennifer Lawrence makes a good point.  Or two. Or three.  Okay, whatever, I guess someday I'll have to dedicate a post to all her randomeness.  Moving on. Jennifer Lawrence says that when training for her role as Katniss in the Hunger Games, she focused on looking strong and healthy as opposed to the skinny Hollywood ideal, saying "I don't want little girls to be like 'Oh, I want to be like Katniss so I'm going to skip diner'".

Just a little snip of what's going on in my brain right now.  To see what I'm getting at here, you can read the rest of my train of though here.

Just a little tag-along.

I seem to be on a run with these kind of questions today, but this is just too cool to to share.

I believe in a god who died for me.  He actually cared enough to lower himself to become human, and then dies for you and me.

Think about that for a sec.  Do you have anyone in your life you would die for?

More Musings

Born a cradle Catholic, I've never found reason to doubt my religion, and I am convinced that it is the true religion, but I've often wondered: would I die for my faith?

As much as I want to answer yes, I really don't know what I would do, though I pray that God fills me with the grace to do so if that is my calling.

Is this only me?  Have you ever thought about this?  Now that it's been pulled to your attention, what do you think?

Halloween

October 31st.  Halloween.

For my family this is a day of stress, joy, costumes  and chaos, but for some this is just another day.

Somewhere there's a boy in the library studying for midterms.
Somewhere there's a girl at a friend's house that's "just too cool".
Somewhere there's a man at work that's just too busy.
Somewhere there's a mom in her car shuttling her kids to the soccer game.

But guess what? This is also the day when dreams come true.  The day that can bring joy to the littlest child.  Yes,  they hear, you can be a princess, a cowboy, the main character of your favorite story.  This is their time to dream big. This is a night to go out and enjoy.  Or simply sit back and enjoy the parade.

What are you doing for Halloween this year?

The First Post

Just a welcome to my lovely new blog.

Unlike my other, just barely more organized blog, A Whole New World (I know, cheesy, deal with it) this is more of just one question posts where I can put forward a thought or idea.  I love comments, and it's always cool to have something passed on! If you have something random you want to share, message me in the comments and I'll put it up, assuming it's not that completely out there.  Random I can take, messed up stuff though is just plain a no.

Thought of the Day:

Can you imagine a world without music?

On that depressing note, I bid you adieu :)
